Application Filing - Anticipated in March 2026

PUC Decision - Anticipated in September 2026

On April 24, 2024, the PUCT announced the approval of the First High Voltage, 765kv Transmission Lines for Texas. Per PUCT Chairman Thomas Gleeson, "Extra high voltage lines are more efficient and strengthen reliability. Because each line can carry more power, fewer lines are necessary to serve the needs of the Permian Basin Region, meaning less disruption to Texas landowners, natural habitats, and landscapes.

The Bell County East - Big Hill - Sand Lake Switch will cover 407 miles of transmission lines hanging from massive 19 story tall double tangent towers. The Dinosaur - Longshore - Drill Hole Switch will cover 415 miles of transmission lines. That is approximately 822 miles of transmission lines moving from central Texas to the Permian Basin. I'm sure "less disruption to Texas landowners" is not covered in that  many miles! Plus you have the disruption to all the native Texas habitat, from plants to animals. Basically more lines to carry power to the Permian Basin for data centers takes precedence over landowners, natural habitats, and landscape.

On June 13, 2023, Governor Abbott signed HB 5066. The House and Senate of Texas unanimously passed the bill. On page 2 of the bill, section 39.167 it lays out that a reliability plan for the Permian Basin be developed no later than Jan. 30, 2024.

In March 2025, LandBridge Company announced that they would be developing a data center in the Permian Basin. This announcement was BEFORE Texans were told about the 765kv transmission line proposed project. All 4 segments running from Central Texas to the Permian Basin became aware of the Oncor & LCRA projects in May & June 2025. Within 3 weeks of residents discovering the proposed projects, New Era Helium acquired 235 acres to build a data center in the Permian Basin with the rights to acquire up to 450 acres.

Why are Texans who have worked their whole lives and lived by "The Texan Way" the last to be informed?

Why is big money and big investments being put before the very people who made Texas what it is today?

More importantly, Texas cultural principals are rooted in its frontier history.  We have strong traditions of individualism which prioritizes individual liberty over government intervention. This proposed 822 miles of transmission lines is the Texas government stampeding all over our individual liberties. Our sense of allegiance to Texas has been shaken. How can a government trample the very people who have loved and built Texas into the state she is today?

More importantly...how do you make your voices hear?

We ALL need to write to our Texas Senators and House Representatives. In my list of who to write to I have also included the Railroad Commissioners. They regulate our natural gas, oil and coal industry and we should all be asking them, as well as everyone else involved in this project, why the Permian Basin is not building Power Plants to supply energy. There is also emails for the project managers for Oncor and LCRA that we should be emailing daily with questions and concerns.

If you have not filled out and sent in the questionnaire, please do so.

Visit our News & Events page to see where we will be protesting. There are also other events that you can attend to have your voices heard.

Please keep checking back as I update this website with more information. I put this together quickly just to get started but need another week to keep adding data.

I want to thank each and every one of you for sending emails, and letters, for committing to protest, helping to fund attorneys, for without you, without all of us coming together as a community, we lose the fight before it has begun. There is power in numbers and great things can be accomplished when we work together.
